Services provided by the Enterprise Department

Your must either reside or be establishing a business in our catchment area in order to avail of any of the services provided by the Enterprise Development Department. All services are provided subject to the approval of the Tolka Area Partnership and funding being available.

Training and Capacity Building Courses such as:

1.    Start Your Own Business Course

A number of Start Your Own Business Courses are run throughout the year. Our Start Your Own Business course is subsidised and client are asked to contribute a nominal fee. The  modules include:

  • Legal Structure of your Business
  • Marketing for Pennies
  • Winning Customers and Making Sales
  • Basic Book Keeping
  • Insurance for the Small Business
  • Preparing a Business Plan
  • Support from Your Bank
  • Taxation for Small Businesses
  • Motivation & Time Management
  • Cash Budgeting for Your Business
  • A Website for Your Business
  • Minding Your Own Business
  • An Introduction to Health and Safety

2.    Bookkeeping for New Enterprises:

Bookkeeping is an important function of any business, be it big or very small. Good bookkeeping practices are a must to maintain an accurate set of accounting books. Getting the accounting concepts and practices right for small businesses is all about doing simple accounting things in the best way every time. The Tolka Area Partnership run a bookkeeping course on a monthly basis. There is no charge to clients for this service. 3.    Sales and Selling Workshops

The overall aim of this workshop is to train clients so that they can significantly improve their personal sales performance. The course modules include:

The course is directed at anyone who is involved in selling for his or her business. It offers insight in to selling in the current economic climate.

Subsidised Accounting

The partnership also offers clients the services of an Accountant at a subsidised rate of 75%. If the client wishes to avail of this service to complete their end of year returns, they need to contact either Orla Mattingley or David Orford for a referral.

Business Mentoring

Sometimes a client may need extra support or a more intensive business plan. The partnership offers the service of a consultant, who will work with clients on a comprehensive business plan, marketing strategy or feasibility study. This is a discretionary service, and dependent on the needs of the client. This service is only available in certain circumstances.

The Enterprise Development Clients may also avail of subsidised advertising:

  1. 50% discount towards a business size advertisement with the North Side People newspaper.  The advertisement is placed at the end of each calendar month. If you wish to avail of this service, please contact June Magaharan at 01 8361666.
  2. The Tolka Area Partnership offer subsidised printing and stationery for flyers, posters, letterheads and business cards with discounts up to 50%.
