Community Representation

There are a growing number of local bodies that receive funding from the state to work in our communities. Many of these bodies are required to include local people in their decision making processes. This often involves local people sitting on Boards of management or committees.

This is a way of ensuring that these organisations can respond to the needs of the community and be informed of current issues within the community.

One of our key aims is to strengthen and support effective community representation on these local decision making bodies. For example: Tolka Area Partnership Board, Health Service Executive Primary Care Networks, Local Drugs Taskforce, Local Traveller Accommodation and Consultative Committee, Policing Fora etc.

This entails working with communities to identify, train and support community representatives and to assist communities to organise themselves to voice their needs and influence decisions that affect them.

Current areas of work include:

Tolka Area Partnership Decision Making Structures

We also promote and support community participation on the Partnership’s decision making structures. There are three levels of community participation within the Partnership. These include the Tolka Area Partnership Board, committees of the Board and advisory councils.

Please click here for more information on the levels of community participation in TAP.
